Trip to USA
I was apprehensive about travelling to Portland, Oregon
due to the fact that for six weeks before I was incapacitated with a serious
attack of gout. I almost cancelled but felt the need to honour Apostle
Richard Wright, my friend and a great father to many. In the end I swallowed
my pride and organised a wheelchair to help with transit at the airports.
There were two main events when I was there. The annual
Gathering of Eagles and Richard’s wedding to Cheryl
Schenck. I was also due to preach at the church one of the
Sunday’s I was there.
I left on the 8th June on the early flight to Amsterdam from Birmingham then
transferred to Portland, Oregon. Despite some pain and discomfort
the journey went well and I enjoyed being pushed to the front of the queues
especially at immigration in Portland.
Richard and Cheryl were there to meet me. It was good to re-acquaint myself
with them. Richard and I regularly communicate by e-mail and latterly via
Skype. It was like meeting an old friend.
I wrote three reports of the meetings which you can read
on the main news page of the Prophet’s Notebook website. Click HERE to go now
It was a memorable time and we are looking forward to
receiving Apostle Richard and Cheryl in April 2010.
Aje and Chantal Pelser’s visit
I missed the first few days of Aje and Chantal’s visit.
They arrived a few days before I arrived back from the USA. Their
first weekend was in Sowerby
Bridge, West Yorkshire at the Elim Church Centre. This is led
by our good friends Duncan and Beverly Curry. The meetings lasted for three
days and have had a great effect on the church.
Further ministry took place in Barking, Essex
and Twickenham, London
which I was able to partake in. A great visit with many testimonies. There
are several accounts of the trip available on the Harvester Church
website.

Holiday
It’s easy
to forget that during my travels my wife Annie misses out on a true break. We
felt the need to get away so along with some friends we booked two weeks in
our camper in High Bentham, North Yorkshire.
I had not really spent time in this area for about twelve years. It is such a
beautiful part of England.
We managed to visit the Lake District, drove
through the Forest
of Bowland and spent
time in the Craven District of Yorkshire. It was very restful and the weather
was good enough to get sunburnt. Sadly that’s faded now.
Sowerby Bridge Elim
Church
Our links with Sowerby
Bridge Elim
Church were
strengthened by the visit of Aje and Chantal Pelser
and we spent a weekend with the leaders this month. I enjoyed playing with
the worship team and was able to share testimony about my journey in the
Apostolic which this church is also undertaking. We really enjoying getting
to know people and our stay with Duncan and Beverly was full of fun and much
laughter. I will be preaching there September and then spending several weeks
teaching the Foundation Course from the middle of October into the New Year.
Family News
My daughter Jenny is planning to attend the Miracle Bible School
in Cape Town South Africa
for a year from January 2010. She left school in June after A-levels and
looked for a job to help pay for this. When I was in the US she was
getting frustrated that none of her applications had borne fruit. I
encouraged her to keep praying and trust God and within a few days of that
encouragement she was offered a place with a care organisation called Trimar.
She is now working for them full time in Birmingham. They are aware she will be
leaving January and are happy to allow her to continue until then. She is
working early and late shifts with people who have very demanding social
issues. I am proud that she is able to do this at 18.
She received good news this week. She managed to obtain
two A’s and two B’s in her A-levels which she is really pleased with. So are
the rest of her family.
Ben has been busy working all summer but is taking a break
for a week early September. I am driving with him to spend just under a week
in Paris. I
am looking forward to it. He is also starting driving lessons again. His
results from his second year at University are the equivalent of a 1st
which will spur him on into his third and final year.
Ann is enjoying the summer break from school. Having said
that she has decorated the lounge during the holidays. She has learned a
great deal from her new post of Deputy Head and I am sure it will be full
steam ahead come start of term.
God is continuing to bless the business in a timely way. I
have had a quiet summer but will be busy the next few weeks until my trip to South Africa
end of September.
South African Trip
I leave
for South Africa
on 18th September until 7th October. I will be visiting
Pretoria
first of all before travelling to Cape
Town for their annual Summit. The Summit is a real highlight and I am excited
to be there for the second time. Our friends Duncan and Beverly Curry are
also planning to be there so it will be even more special.
I am
travelling from Pretoria
to Cape Town
by car. A treat organised by my friends André and Mimie De Jager. It takes
two days to do it.
Church Meetings in Birmingham
From 6th September we will be meeting Sunday
mornings at 11 AM as a
church in our home. God spoke to me in two visions in South Africa
last year and we felt it was time to expand the Wednesday meetings to include
Sunday. Please pray for us. The word I have from the Lord is that He will add
to the church just as in Acts. We are stepping out in faith trusting Him. So if
you are not committed anywhere and want to visit, give us a call and we will
give you the details or visit the website.
Finally
Please
pray for us as we seek to fulfil the will of God. That God will continue to
speak and give us direction and faith for what He wants done.
